Capture of Drug Cartel Leader in Guadalajara

Federal Security authorities reported the capture of Itania Noemí “N”, known as ‘La Alemana’, who is considered the leader of a Sinaloa Cartel cell linked to the faction of Ismael “El Mayo” Zambada. The detention of ‘La Alemana’ took place in the Jalisco capital, where she is accused of being responsible for drug trafficking and being one of the main generators of violence in the region of Manzanillo, Colima.

According to the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), Itania Noemí directed criminal activities from Guadalajara, ordering the trafficking of illicit substances to the Colima region and was in dispute for control of the area with the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG). The capture of ‘La Alemana’ was the result of investigations that identified her as the leader of a criminal cell based in Colima, and she is charged with crimes against health and violations of the Federal Law on Firearms.

The detention of Itania Noemí was carried out in the Mexicalcingo neighborhood of Guadalajara, in a joint operation between the National Intelligence Center (CNI), the Defense, the Navy, and the National Guard. Omar García Harfuch, head of the SSPC, explained that locating the criminal leader was possible due to an exhaustive tracking of her movement in the metropolitan area of Guadalajara.

This capture adds to the recent detention of Aldrin Miguel Jarquín, alias “El Chaparrito”, a suspected lieutenant of the CJNG, in a similar operation. Both arrests represent significant advancements in the fight against the violence generated by drug trafficking in the western part of the country, especially in conflict zones between the Sinaloa and Jalisco cartels.
