Daniel Ríos Leaves Chivas for Vancouver Whitecaps

Club Deportivo Guadalajara continues to experience significant losses, as Mexican forward Daniel Ríos has decided to leave Chivas to join Major League Soccer (MLS) with the Vancouver Whitecaps. Ríos, 29 years old, has signed a one-year contract with an option to buy with the Canadian club after being informed that he would not be included in the sports plans of the Jalisco team.

Daniel Ríos arrived at Chivas in 2022 and was loaned to Atlanta United in 2023. Upon his return to Guadalajara in December of the same year, the management informed him that he was not part of the team's plans for the new cycle led by Óscar García. Despite training individually during his time at the club, the relationship with the Chivas coaching staff did not progress, as the Spanish coach never had direct contact with him.

Ríos' last match in the red-and-white jersey was in October 2023 in the loss against Tigres UANL, where he played only eight minutes. Throughout the season, the forward scored one goal in 19 matches played, being a starter on six occasions, but with limited opportunities and reduced participation in the team's scheme.

Despite the difficulties he faced upon returning to Chivas, Daniel Ríos is now beginning a new chapter in his career with Vancouver Whitecaps. He will travel to Canada to undergo medical and physical exams before being officially presented as the club's new player, marking the end of his time at the Rebaño and the beginning of a new stage in the MLS, where he will look to regain his best level and earn more playing minutes.
