The match El Clásico Nacional between Chivas and América, which took place at the Akron Stadium, was marred by the unfortunate action of a fan who threw a bottle onto the field, injuring Kevin Álvarez. This situation provoked outrage in the azulcrema environment, and coach André Jardine urged Liga MX to intervene.
Liga MX responded hours later with a statement announcing the opening of an investigation to clarify the incident involving the Eagles' defender. The statement indicated that evidence would be gathered and the report from the Match Commissioner would be reviewed, after which the case would be referred to the Disciplinary Committee to determine responsibilities.
It is relevant to note that the throwing of the bottle at Kevin Álvarez is not the only act of violence that has occurred at Akron Stadium this season. Journalist David Faitelson was similarly assaulted on March 5 with a cup of beer in the hallways of the venue. Additionally, Faitelson reported a sexual assault by a pseudo-fan.
