Launch of the GTO 2.0 Brand in Guanajuato

The Governor of Guanajuato, Libia Dennise García Muñoz Ledo, announced the upcoming launch of Brand GTO 2.0, a designation that celebrates its first decade and aims to evolve to face the challenges of the current market, as well as open new opportunities for local entrepreneurs.

Brand GTO, originally created to highlight the quality and authenticity of Guanajuato's products, is preparing to take a further step with this renovation. Version 2.0 will include improvements in the certification methodology, focused on technology and digitalization. The governor expressed: “We want our artisans to be ready to compete in international markets.”

Currently, more than 7,000 micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (mipymes) in Guanajuato have the Brand GTO designation, a seal that for 10 years has promoted the quality, innovation, and competitiveness of local products. Brand GTO 2.0 is reinventing itself to focus on two essential pillars: social responsibility and environmental care.

Version 2.0 of Brand GTO will seek to certify businesses that are efficient in quality and delivery times, as well as businesses that promote an inclusive and sustainable culture. In the environmental arena, the new rules of the designation will include concrete actions to save water and energy, such as promoting dry urinals, eliminating water leaks, and implementing standards to turn off electronics and lights in unused areas.

These measures will be verified to ensure compliance and are expected to eventually become part of the daily culture of certified companies. During a visit to the People's Pavilion, where more than 800 exhibitors from 14 municipalities participate, the Governor of Guanajuato spoke with artisans like Josefina, founder of Tierra Luna, who makes handmade jewelry, and Oscar, a producer of ice creams and natural popsicles that are already distributed in Oxxo stores in the region.
