
The Health Secretariat of Guanajuato (SSG) has announced that it will continue to carry out operations and epidemiological surveillance brigades at mass events in the region, with a special focus on the International Cervantino Festival. During two weeks, more than 2,000 hotels were inspected during the festival.
The Secretary of Health, Gabriel Cortés Alcalá, stated that an active search for cases of diseases such as viral respiratory illnesses, acute diarrheal diseases, cholera, vaccine-preventable diseases, and Ebola was conducted. Close coordination will be maintained with municipal authorities to identify and mitigate risk factors.
During the festival, inspections were carried out in more than 5,700 homes to control the proliferation of mosquitoes and prevent diseases such as dengue. Additionally, special medical assistance brigades were deployed to provide help to attendees who needed it, with the capability to refer patients to more specialized health units if necessary.
Regarding the actions of the SSG during the cold season, various measures were taken: - Markets, ice factories, and food establishments were supervised to ensure the sanitary quality of products. - More than 300 health promotion activities have been carried out, including the distribution of contraceptive methods and the promotion of healthy habits. - Inspections at establishments such as tattoo parlors, public bathrooms, and hotels were conducted to verify compliance with health regulations.
