National and international alerts, searches, interrogations, and highly specialized laboratory analyses are some of the measures that the Sonora Prosecutor's Office, in collaboration with the state Secretariat of Health, has undertaken to apprehend the fugitive doctor Jesús Maximiano 'N', the probable responsible for the deaths of at least 6 people by administering them vitamin serums in Hermosillo. The warrants for the detention of the alleged perpetrator of the deaths, attributed by authorities to the administration of vitamin serums, and whose number could be higher as families come to file complaints with the prosecutor's office, were sent to all federal entities and to the government of the United States, reported Rómulo Salas Chávez, the prosecutor of Sonora. Similarly, he specified that the prosecutor's office is handling a total of 8 ongoing investigation files, related to both deceased persons and victims who managed to recover, and detailed the progress of the proceedings. 'We have a total of 8 ongoing investigation files in which we have conducted a total of 51 statements and interviews with witnesses, direct victims, some who survived, and also indirect victims such as relatives,' he explained. 'I must point out that practically all of them, at least those referred to by the indirect victim, have the corresponding permits for distribution, some of which come from Europe. On April 2, they sent samples to the Analytical Control and Coverage Expansion Commission, which are laboratories of the highest specialty, probably in Latin America,' explained the prosecutor, Rómulo Salas Chávez. Although the exact cause of death of the people treated at the doctor's clinic will be determined precisely once the laboratory results are obtained, Governor Alfonso Durazo anticipated that the problem would have been the 'mix' made by the professional. The Sonora prosecutor criticized a specific aspect of the medical practice of Jesús Maximiano 'N': while some of the serums were administered on-site, there were other cases where the staff at the clinic in question provided the serum to take away, 'as if they were coffees'. In the face of the situation, which includes the citizen trend to use vitamin serums to combat hangovers, among other reasons, the Secretary of Health of Sonora, José Luis Alomía, highlighted that, as in any medical practice, it is required that the professional has all their documentation in order and that it must be visible to reduce risks, although this would not prevent tragedies such as the one registered in the capital of Sonora from March 30 to the present. Regarding the doctor's whereabouts, Rómulo Salas Chávez stated that, to date, there is no record of him having crossed the border formally, so the authorities maintain permanent monitoring and operations at various points to locate him.
