
Businessman Carlos 'Charly' Tirado, owner of the seafood restaurant 'El Charco', was murdered on Sunday, February 16, in an armed attack in the La Rioja neighborhood, Hermosillo, Sonora. The State Attorney General's Office reported that the homicide occurred around 6:17 PM near the establishment, located between Luis Donaldo Colosio street and Boulevard Cameros. It was detailed that the attack was direct and carried out with gunfire according to initial reports.
After the crime, personnel from the Criminal Investigation Agency (AMIC) and Forensic Services were dispatched to the scene to process it and collect evidence that may help clarify the case. The Prosecutor's Office also conducted search and location operations in coordination with different security agencies to find those responsible for the murder.
The agency plans to review surveillance footage and gather testimonies from witnesses in order to complement the investigation. It also reaffirmed its commitment to justice and announced the implementation of decisive actions to identify and bring the perpetrators to justice.
Following the tragic death of Carlos Tirado, the U.S. Consulate in Hermosillo issued a travel alert for its citizens. They reminded that the state of Sonora has a travel warning classified as Level 3: Reconsider travel. They also advised Americans to stay alert, maintain a low profile, stay informed about local news, and in case of emergency, contact 911 and follow local authorities' instructions.
