In Hermosillo, Sonora, it has been determined that there are not sufficient conditions to grant a conditional suspension of the process for bribery against singer Natanael Cano. The Prosecutor's Office opposed this request, emphasizing the lack of prior evaluation of the accused as an indispensable requirement for making a decision in cases of conditional suspension.
During the judicial process, it was revealed that Natanael Cano, known for being a singer of corridos tumbados, allegedly gave money to elements of the Municipal Police of Hermosillo with the intention of avoiding legal actions against him for reckless conduct while driving. In response, the judge determined that the artist would not be able to leave the country without court authorization and must periodically appear in court.
Natanael Cano's defense proposed a plan for damage restitution that included a deposit of 10,000 pesos to the Justice Administration Fund and an additional donation to a cancer foundation; however, the Prosecutor's Office deemed these measures insufficient and argued that they did not adequately guarantee that the accused would fulfill his responsibilities.
In the recent hearing, the Control Judge decided to reject the conditional suspension of the process. This measure was taken after analyzing the arguments presented and considering that it was not appropriate to grant it in the case of Natanael Cano and the bribery charge for which he is being tried. The prohibition on leaving the country and the obligation to sign periodically in court remain in effect for the singer during the judicial process.
