An aircraft crashed near the road San Mateo Capultitlán – Santa Ana Xalmimilulco in the municipality of Huejotzingo, Puebla, Mexico, in an accident that left at least four people dead. The state Civil Protection Directorate confirmed this, stating that the incident occurred just before 13:00 in farmland next to the Parque Industrial San Miguel Quetzalcóatl in the locality of Santa Ana Xalmimilulco, Huejotzingo, where a small plane, model C172, fell. The aircraft took off from Hermanos Serdán International Airport with destination Poza Rica, Veracruz; however, minutes after departure, the plane collapsed, apparently due to an engine failure, although the corresponding expert assessments are being carried out to confirm this. Farmers from the auxiliary board of Santa Ana Xalmimilulco recorded the moment of the accident, when the plane was flying low until it dove and crashed, so they called emergency numbers to report the incident. The toll was three dead at the scene and one more in a Health sector hospital. The deceased were identified as Paulo Antonio Vélez V., Marcos Omar Martínez Tavera, and Ramsés Olin Zaragoza Burgos (Pilots and passenger). Meanwhile, Emilio Gil Ramírez managed to survive and was stabilized, so he was transferred by ambulance to a hospital in the capital of Puebla, where he also died just before 15:00. According to the Mexican Aeronautical Register of the Federal Civil Aviation Agency (AFAC), the aircraft was registered on January 22, 2022, and the owner's name is confidential. It had a hangar at Cuernavaca International Airport, Morelos, and was not linked to any flight school in Puebla. The aircraft, a Cessna 172 model, plummeted into an agricultural area, according to state Civil Protection information.
