Violent Arrest of Teenagers Justified by Authorities

The violent detention of two teenagers in Jiutepec, at the hands of Morelos police, was justified by the Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection, Miguel Ángel Urrutia Lozano. When questioned about the violence exerted against the adolescents, Urrutia Lozano reiterated that they did not present serious injuries and asked for evidence from the municipal authorities of Jiutepec to support his claim. It was confirmed that when the parents collected the minors, they did not have serious injuries.

The secretary confirmed that the patrol used in the detention belonged to the Secretary of Citizen Protection of Morelos and was delivered to the municipality of Jiutepec as part of an agreement. He argued that the young people could have been armed and downplayed the aggressions, ensuring that they did not present serious injuries. Additionally, he defended the actions of the agents.

Urrutia Lozano also mentioned that the intervention was carried out according to a procedure in which the municipal authorities addressed the request and that the detained individuals were placed at disposal. He assured that this incident would be treated in a Council of Honor and Justice and in internal affairs, and emphasized the importance of analyzing the situation as a whole.

The case became public on February 1, when a video was circulated showing how a patrol stops the teenagers who were riding a motorcycle. The parents of the young people got involved in the matter, and an agreement was reached with them regarding responsibility. Urrutia Lozano also urged parents to prevent their children from engaging in certain activities that could endanger their lives.
