The Attorney General's Office of Oaxaca reported that the accident on the Mitla-Tehuantepec highway, in which 19 people died, was caused by the loss of control of the bus by the driver. Of the victims, 17 were from Juchitán and were members of Morena, who were traveling to a rally called by President Claudia Sheinbaum in Mexico City. The other two victims were the driver and his companion.
Based on the forensic studies conducted by the Forensic Services Institute of the Attorney General's Office of Oaxaca, it was determined that the bus driver lost control of the vehicle, which resulted in the vehicle leaving the road. Expert analyses revealed a loss of tire grip on the right side, while the left side remained clear.
Of the 19 deceased, nine were men and ten were women, whose bodies were handed over to their families after legal identification. In light of this tragedy, the Attorney General's Office of Oaxaca deployed specialized teams to gather evidence and provide support to the families of the victims in the legal processes.
The authorities have declared two days of mourning in Juchitán in respect for the death of the 18 Morena supporters in this tragic bus overturning.
