Cañaveral Boulevard: Strategic Link for León's Growth

More than a road project, the Cañaveral Boulevard is shaping up as a strategic corridor that will connect hospitals, universities, and residential areas in one of the city's fastest-growing poles. With an investment of over 173 million pesos and a physical progress of 54.68%, the 1.5-kilometer roadway will link key points such as the General Hospital of León, the Regional High Specialty Hospital of the Bajío, and campuses of the University of Guanajuato and the Technological University of León, reducing travel times in an area where mobility and access to services intersect daily.

Less traffic, more access to services

The project features three lanes per direction with hydraulic concrete, a central median of 13 meters, a bidirectional bike path, and 3-meter sidewalks, in addition to acceleration lanes at the Juan Alonso de Torres interchange to improve road safety. It will function as an alternate route to the Airport Boulevard, one of the main arteries with the highest vehicular flow in León, by relieving traffic flows towards roads like the Metropolitan Axis and Vicente Valtierra.

During peak hours, this redistribution will prevent bottlenecks at key accesses to the southern area, especially for those traveling to hospitals, universities, or housing complexes, reducing travel times and improving connectivity in a corridor that concentrates essential services.

Infrastructure that impacts daily life

The project not only aims to improve vehicular circulation. In a zone with accelerated residential expansion, the new boulevard brings health and education services closer to thousands of people, reducing access barriers in daily commutes. According to the Public Works Secretariat, the works are carried out by Espinosa Ingenieros Constructores and also include signalized intersections to reinforce traffic safety and flow.
