León Without Hunger Provides Over 5 Million Rations

The program 'León Sin Hambre' has delivered more than 5 million meals throughout the city through 138 community kitchens and 122 mobile school kitchens, as reported during the commemoration of World Food Day. Ernesto García Caratachea, Secretary for Social Strengthening of León, highlighted the achievements in this area and reaffirmed the commitment to raise awareness among the population and strengthen solidarity against malnutrition.

The community kitchens operate in coordination with civil associations, schools, and institutions to provide food support, while the mobile school kitchens provide daily cold breakfasts to students to ensure healthy eating from an early age. During the previous administration, more than 4 million 295 thousand food rations were distributed to vulnerable individuals, and from January 2022 to September 2024, more than 11 thousand 611 social supports were provided to families in unfavorable conditions.

As part of the commemoration, several municipalities in Guanajuato shared typical dishes, emphasizing the use of local ingredients and the importance of reducing food waste. Among the notable participants at the event were Ernesto García Caratachea, Juan Carlos Montesinos, José Alfonso Borja, Libia Denisse García Muñoz Ledo, and Ernesto Daniel Gallegos, who represented various public institutions of the state.
