During the cold front season in León, it is forecasted that temperatures will drop below 0 degrees Celsius in some communities. In response to this situation, the León City Council has initiated the "Winter Crusade," which includes operations to safeguard people in at-risk situations and distribute warm clothing.
During the months of December and January, at least 48 cold fronts are expected, and it is estimated that the most vulnerable communities could be La Sandía and Los Ramírez. The city's DIF will deliver a total of 5,918 warm garments to vulnerable people to help them combat the low temperatures.
An ice rink and other attractions, such as light shows related to Christmas, are planned to be installed in the Ecological Park of the León Fair. This village will be open for free from December 6 to December 27 for the enjoyment of the residents.
In case homes or people requiring other types of support are identified during the winter season, the City Council will add different social programs. Additionally, Civil Protection will prepare more shelters in municipal sports facilities in case of contingencies.
Municipal Civil Protection will carry out operations to assist people in street situations, evaluating their health and encouraging their transfer to the municipal shelter. Despite only 19 out of 725 people accepting to be transferred to a shelter during the last season, the patrols will continue to provide primary care and identify risk factors.
During the winter season, entry to the Snowy Village will be free, providing the community with a recreational space at no cost.
