The municipal authorities of León have initiated verification and regularization processes to ensure compliance with current regulations in the area. These interventions range from cleaning common areas to the removal of illegal structures, accompanied by improvements in urban infrastructure. The main goal of these measures is to recover public space and reduce the perception of insecurity in the locality.
As part of a permanent operation with a comprehensive approach, the municipal authorities have announced that this intervention plan will be maintained consistently. Mayor Alejandra Gutiérrez emphasized that the reorganization aims fundamentally to restore trust between citizens and the local government, while ensuring safe conditions for residents, pedestrians, and businesses in the area.
Initially implemented on Miguel Alemán Avenue, three weeks after the start of the reorganization operation, it was reported that two properties functioning as crime centers had been recovered. These places were dedicated to illicit activities such as drug dealing and storing stolen goods. During the operations conducted by the Public Security Secretariat with the support of the National Guard and SEDENA, more than 1,300 doses of various narcotic substances were confiscated.
After verifying that the properties had been used for illicit purposes, they were returned to their respective legal owners. In addition to security-related tasks, the operation allowed for the identification of more than 100 businesses that were operating with expired permits or unauthorized activities.
