The operation involved agents from the National Defense Secretariat, National Guard, Mexican Air Force, alongside the Criminal Investigation Agency and the Specialized Prosecutor's Office for Organized Crime. Hours before the arrest, the Matamoros municipal government posted a security alert on social networks, advising residents to stay informed via official channels and avoid the area. Despite the alert, authorities did not specify the operation's details. Sources indicate it began at 06:00, utilizing military vehicles and a helicopter. The operation occurred four days after violent protests across the country following the killing of Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) leader Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, 'El Mencho'.
