The state of Sinaloa strengthens its international air connectivity with the opening of the direct Mazatlán-Vancouver route, which Air Canada will begin to operate in the next winter season. The governor of Sinaloa, Rubén Rocha Moya, emphasized that this connection reflects the confidence of international airlines and the preference of the Canadian tourist market for the state of Sinaloa. "We continue to strengthen the international connectivity of Sinaloa. Mazatlán has been and continues to be one of the preferred destinations for the Canadian market," he stressed. In this regard, Luis Noriega Benet, Commercial Director for Latin America and the Caribbean at Air Canada, highlighted the airline's commitment to connect Mexico with the world through Canada. "We are proud to continue growing in Mexico, a key market for Air Canada, and reaffirming our commitment to connect the country with the world through Canada with an increasingly robust network of routes," he explained. Ricardo Dueñas, General Director of OMA, pointed out that the incorporation of this route confirms the airport group's commitment to boost the international connectivity of the cities they serve, as well as to support their competitiveness as poles of economic and tourist development. "This is achieved thanks to the ambitious multi-year investment plan that we are deploying in all our airport terminals," he expressed. For the first time, Air Canada arrives in our state with the direct Vancouver-Mazatlán route, which will begin on December 15 and operate during the winter season 2026–2027, with flights on Tuesdays and Fridays until April 9. This arrival reflects the confidence of international airlines and the preference of Canadian tourists for our state, generating more tourism, investment, and shared prosperity for Sinaloa," detailed. The Secretary of Tourism of Sinaloa, Mireya Sosa Osuna, pointed out that this achievement is the result of the coordinated work carried out between the Government of Sinaloa and the North Central Airport Group (OMA) to increase the influx of international passengers in the entity. "The opening of new air routes from Canada to Sinaloa is the result of coordinated work, strategic vision, and permanent management that our governor, Dr. Rubén Rocha Moya, has promoted in international connectivity," affirmed Sosa Osuna. The direct route between Vancouver and Mazatlán will start operating on December 15, 2026, and until April 9, 2027, with two weekly frequencies. It will depart from Vancouver at 08:25 and arrive in Mazatlán at 14:00; while the flight will depart from the port at 14:55, to land in Vancouver at 18:55. The arrival of Air Canada in Mazatlán is especially relevant, as it is Canada's flagship airline and the largest provider of regular passenger services in the Canadian market, which elevates the destination's visibility, connectivity, and confidence at the international level. The state official highlighted that its presence in the entity strengthens market diversification, facilitates access from high-value travelers, and consolidates Mazatlán as an increasingly competitive option within the Mexican Pacific. "We thank the commitment of OMA, whose work has been key to this achievement, as well as the confidence of Canadian airlines that continue to bet on our destination."
