The murder of Elohim Díaz Jiménez has caused shock in political and security circles in the State of Mexico. Díaz Jiménez, former regional prosecutor of Cuautitlán, was the victim of an armed attack at a restaurant in the Colonia Agrícola in Metepec, State of Mexico. The crime, which also claimed the life of another person, triggered an intense response from local authorities, including the Army, the National Guard, and state and municipal police.
After the double homicide, an operation was deployed in the area to locate those responsible, although no arrests have been made so far. This tragic event adds to a series of violent incidents that have shaken various regions of the State of Mexico in recent weeks, under the Swarm Operation.
The former official had resigned from his position as Secretary of Public Ministry R-I on January 9, and had been removed from his position as regional prosecutor of Cuautitlán due to an investigation against him, details of which have not been revealed. Following the murder of Díaz Jiménez, the Attorney General's Office of the State of Mexico has begun the necessary investigations to clarify the crime and bring those responsible for the attack to justice.
The attack, carried out at the restaurant "El Portalito," was executed by armed men who arrived at the location on motorcycles and fired without saying a word. Despite the mobilization of authorities and the deployment of security in the area, no suspects have been captured so far.
