State and federal authorities have detained Javier Gabriel 'N', alias 'La Piruja', identified as a priority target in Baja California and one of the alleged leaders of 'Los Rusos', a group with a presence in the state and in Sonora, allegedly linked to the Sinaloa Cartel faction known as 'La Mayiza'. According to official information, the detention occurred between the night of Friday, December 19, and the early morning of Saturday, 20, at kilometer 57 of the Mexicali Valley, on the border with San Luis Río Colorado, Sonora, as a result of a special deployment derived from intelligence and surveillance work. The operation was led by the State Citizen Security Force (FESC), with the participation of elements from the Ministry of National Defense (Sedena), the National Guard, and other local and federal corporations. During the intervention, Javier Gabriel 'N' was arrested along with another individual who was accompanying him, both in possession of firearms and alleged drugs. In a post published on social media X, the Governor of Baja California, Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda, informed about the capture, while stating that in the entity 'there is no room for impunity' and that the state government will continue to work 'for the peace and security of families.' Two late-model vehicles were also secured, one of them armored. Javier Gabriel 'N' is identified as one of the most wanted criminals in Baja California and as a leader and relevant operator within 'Los Rusos', a group linked to 'La Mayiza', a faction of the Sinaloa Cartel affiliated with Ismael 'El Mayo' Zambada, currently imprisoned in the United States awaiting sentencing. His area of influence covered the Mexicali Valley and San Luis Río Colorado, Sonora. Since last year, the detainee appeared in an official poster from the Baja California Citizen Security Secretariat and was on the public list of the 11 most wanted in the state, headed by Jesús Alexander Sánchez Félix, alias 'Ruso', along with other alleged criminal leaders. The head of state shared a video showing the detainee being transferred. Meanwhile, the Baja California Citizen Security Secretariat indicated in a Facebook post that the detainee was handed over to the Attorney General's Office of the Republic (FGR), the institution that will follow up on the corresponding investigations. During the operation, authorities secured two long-caliber .223 firearms, three fragmentation grenades, ballistic vests, magazines, and cartridges, as well as approximately 1.5 kilograms of methamphetamine and about 1,400 doses of marijuana.
