Italian Companies Continue Investments in Mexico

Italian companies operating in Mexico, including some based in Nuevo León (NL), have not stopped their investments due to tariffs imposed by the United States (US). This was stated by Francesco Brocchi, vice president of the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Mexico. Brocchi pointed out that they have no information indicating otherwise, as there is no clear definition regarding the tariff issue. Furthermore, he highlighted that the current trend is for Italian companies to come to Mexico to produce goods intended for the national market.

"The Italian businessman is more interested in the Mexican market, which is also a gateway to Latin America, than in directly targeting the United States," Brocchi said in an interview following the presentation of the Italian Pizza and Food Industry Expo to be held in November in Monterrey. He emphasized that Mexico continues to be considered by Italians as an important partner and a destination for solid investments.

In Mexico, there are approximately 2,600 Italian companies registered in various sectors, such as food production (Ferrero and Barilla), auto parts (Pirelli and Brembo), as well as in renewable energy. For his part, Faustino Cantú, director of Ecreativo - Pizza Mex, mentioned that they are organizing the first event of this kind, from which 50 new pizzeria businesses are expected to emerge, with an estimated investment of 25 to 50 million pesos to open new restaurants.

The participation of 70 to 80 exhibitors of equipment, ingredients, and services is anticipated at this event, which can provide support to pizzeria owners. Katia Guajardo, president of Canirac Monterrey, reported that there are 448 establishments for pizza and Italian food operating in the state, and predicted that this number will increase this year with the opening of more businesses in this sector.
