With the trench backfilling, Monterrey Water and Drainage concluded the comprehensive renewal and maintenance process of the Cuchillo I Aqueduct, which included the repair of 150 meters of pipeline, the replacement of control valves, and Air Admission and Expulsion Valves (VAEAs) on the conduction line.
The maneuvers carried out by the state-owned enterprise on the duct allowed for intervention on a significant section, to address activities related to the bypass, maximizing the impact on reducing physical water losses and containing unaccounted-for water.
"After weeks of intensive work, we concluded the operations that included trench excavation, pipe bypass and drainage, cutting and extraction of the intervened section, placement and welding of the new pipeline, as well as the closure of the work area," stated the General Director of Water and Drainage, Eduardo Ortegón Williamson.
Crews from the state-owned enterprise worked for a month at the site located at the height of the La Morita village, in the municipality of China.
"These works reflect the technical capacity and commitment of our personnel. We executed this intervention with our own equipment and talent, strengthening the efficiency and resilience of our system," explained Ortegón Williamson.
