Nevada surprises Monterrey and its metropolitan area

This Tuesday, as forecasted, sleet began to fall in several municipalities of Nuevo León, creating an icy landscape. The municipality of Anáhuac, in the north of the state, was the first to experience this meteorological phenomenon during the night and early morning. Despite the low temperatures, residents went out into the streets to enjoy the falling sleet that covered streets, plants, and vehicles in white.

In Guadalupe, Juárez, and Cadereyta, as well as in rural areas, temperatures dropped to minus two degrees, reaching even minus three in some municipalities. On the road to Laredo, near Ciénega de Flores, there was a heavy sleet fall reported during the early hours of the morning, prompting authorities to issue precautionary recommendations due to the slippery conditions of the roadway.

In the Chipinque Ecological Park, temperatures varied between minus two and minus three degrees in the early hours. The director of Civil Protection of San Pedro, Gilberto Almaguer, advised the population to avoid going to the park due to the risk conditions presented in the area that day, with a high risk of accidents and falls. Despite the recommendations, approximately 100 people were found in the park in the morning, which remained open despite the adverse conditions.

Civil Protection of Nuevo León reported sleet on the Monterrey to Nuevo Laredo highway, at Ciénega de Flores. Despite the weather conditions, no roadway has been closed to traffic in the region.
