A group of 19 women and 31 men joined the Academy and Continuing Education Center of the Secretary of Security and Protection of Citizenry in Monterrey. Mayor Adrián de la Garza, accompanied by General Commissioner Eduardo Sánchez Quiroz, welcomed the aspiring police officers, traffic officers, and auxiliary guards.

"Be very proud of the corporation you are starting to be part of today, and also feel part of this institution that is strong, capable, and above all, delivers results to the citizenry. We must work very hard because we are living in a moment where we must show what the city of Monterrey and the Police of Monterrey are made of," said the municipal president.

De la Garza indicated that, with four years of operations, the Municipal Academy continues to train security personnel, and unlike others, Monterrey's has investigation and intelligence generation capabilities. He also invited them to put all their effort into preparation and to continue taking courses after graduation that will allow them to acquire more knowledge and grow in their police career.

The mayor acknowledged that in this profession they will experience moments of stress, but they will be prepared to face them and stated that they will have more occasions for pride and satisfaction. At the event, Sánchez Quiroz mentioned that they have 89 candidates in training, plus the 50 who entered on Wednesday.

Since this municipal administration, recruitment is conducted directly at these facilities to expedite the procedures and tests for those interested. The recruitment actions are part of the security strategy Shield to increase the strength of the Monterrey corporation. Members of the municipal cabinet, group leaders of the Police, and directors of the Academy attended the reception of new cadets.
