The Catholic Church and its faithful have also had a significant participation in the sports field. As part of the world fever that is already felt in Nuevo León, on Tuesday, March 24, at 12:00 PM, the Archbishop of Monterrey, Rogelio Cabrera López, will preside over the inauguration ceremony of the temporary exhibition "Faith on the Field: The Church and Sport." The exhibition can be appreciated at the Diocesan Museum of Sacred Art (MAAS). The exhibition is part of the activities promoted by society on the occasion of the World Cup and seeks to offer a reflection on the moments in which the Catholic Church and its faithful have had a significant participation in the sports field. Among the most relevant pieces on display, the original trophy of the legendary children's team from Monterrey, known as the "Champion Children" or "Little Giants," stands out. They won the title in the minor baseball leagues in 1957, it was reported. Also part of the exhibition is the Olympic medal of Mariana Avitia, the first woman from Nuevo León to win a medal at the 2012 London Olympic Games. The exhibition presents a selection of representative events that highlight the intercontinental and intergenerational relationship between the Catholic Church and sport. The invitation details that through objects, photographs, and audiovisual material, the participation of lay faithful, religious, priests, bishops, archbishops, and pontiffs in various sports disciplines is highlighted. The Diocesan Museum of Sacred Art is open to the public from Tuesday to Sunday, from 10:00 AM to 5:45 PM. Admission is free. For more information, visitors are invited to consult the museum's official page on Facebook or to communicate via WhatsApp at 8131203707.
