Improvement in Air Quality Announced in Monterrey

The Secretary of the Environment reported that, thanks to efforts made to control fires in the metropolitan area of Monterrey and its surroundings, a significant improvement in air quality has been observed. Therefore, the atmospheric contingency declared on the night of March 8 has been lifted. The department committed to keeping the population informed about any changes in current conditions.

As part of these actions, the activities of two companies in Santa Catarina have been partially suspended, a construction company in Monterrey, and a quarry in the municipality of Allende. The Secretary of the Environment decided to completely suspend the activity of a construction project managed by Fundación Inmobiliaria, SAPI de CV in Monterrey, due to pollutant emissions generated by the improper disposal of waste and the lack of state permits.

Furthermore, the total suspension of the activities of the company Ductocrest, S.A. de C.V., in Santa Catarina was carried out for emitting pollutants into the atmosphere and lacking the necessary permits. All activities of the company Prefom, S.A. de C. V., in Santa Catarina, and partially those of the quarry Industrializadora de Calizas del Norte in Allende, were also suspended due to generated pollutant emissions.

Additionally, a fire that occurred in a vacant lot in Apodaca was addressed, presumably originating from the burning of brush and various waste, in an area of approximately 1,500 square meters. The Secretary of the Environment continues to conduct surveillance patrols in Apodaca, Pesquería, and García to detect and address sources of pollution in the region.
