New President of the Bar Association in Monterrey

Irma Evangelina Oliva Garza, the new president of the Board of Directors of the Monterrey Bar Association, highlights the need for legal professionals to integrate Artificial Intelligence into their daily practice. She is the third woman to assume the presidency in the 47-year history of the institution. Half of the new Board of Directors is composed of women, showing greater female participation in decision-making and professional practice.

Oliva Garza has as one of her priorities to certify the majority of the members of the Bar Association in the use of Artificial Intelligence. She emphasizes the importance of disconnecting the lawyer from the pursuit of perfection in drafting through this technology. Additionally, she is in favor of reforms in the Judicial branch, considering that changes are positive if they aim to benefit citizens. According to her, the assessment of the efficiency of judges in the country will only be possible by implementing these reforms.

The president of the Bar Association emphasizes that the institution focuses on academic and updating aspects, remaining apolitical. However, she highlights that they will focus on developing skills in social issues as a priority for the benefit of citizens. They plan to provide legal assistance to migrants expected to arrive in the state between 2025 and 2027, collaborating with Human Rights in this initiative.

Among the planned activities is collaborating with the State Government to obtain social benefits and establishing a school of jurisprudence to certify lawyers in issues of updating and legal reforms. In this way, the Monterrey Bar Association aims to adapt to current challenges and provide better service to citizens.
