New Environmental Commission to Address Air Pollution in Monterrey

Governor Samuel García announced that the bill for the creation of the Metropolitan Environmental Commission is nearing completion and will be presented to Congress. He pointed out that the environmental contingency is coming to an end, thanking the firefighters and the forces that collaborated to control the situation.

García emphasized that the creation of this commission is a historic milestone and that drastic measures will be taken against companies or brands that pollute, including suspension or closure. He committed to improving air quality and resolving the environmental problem in the next three years.

The governor urged severe measures against those who caused fires, announcing penalties with the full weight of the law. In addition, the Secretary of Environment will present the initiative in Congress for the creation of the Metropolitan Environmental Commission, which will have the support of federal, state, and municipal authorities.

It was reported that the Civil Protection budget will be increased, additional equipment and an extra shift will be added, and helicopters will be acquired to strengthen monitoring and combat actions against fixed and mobile sources of pollution in Monterrey and its metropolitan area.
