The arrival of Patricio Zambrano to Movimiento Ciudadano, after negotiations with Miguel Flores Serna and Baltazar Martínez Ríos, has generated conflicts among key party actors. This decision, according to sources in MC, originated in Palacio de Cantera, where it is believed that Mariana Rodríguez lost the Monterrey election due to the votes that Zambrano attracted for the Vida party.
The first impact was felt by the state leader of the party, Miguel Sánchez, as he was not considered in the negotiations to incorporate Zambrano. With Flores Serna's intention for Zambrano to become active in the capital, Daniel Acosta Fregoso fears that his past and future efforts will be in vain.
The annoyance was reflected in the Monterrey council, where MC councilors aligned with Senator Luis Donaldo Colosio, such as Roberto Gallardo Galindo and Anabel Molina, did not participate in the event of one of their strongest critics during the previous administration.
Although he has not yet officially assumed the role of state leader, "Balta" Martínez will have to work on reconciliation within the party while also incorporating new profiles. The recent affiliation of Juan Barragán, head of Water and Drainage of Monterrey, has also sown uncertainty among members.
On the other hand, Zambrano's arrival has sparked negative reactions on different fronts, such as the resignation of former councilor Claudia Cantú, a close associate of the former mayor. Some mayors, like Héctor García of Guadalupe and Raúl Cantú of Salinas Victoria, also view Zambrano's integration into MC unfavorably.
Despite warnings about possible conflicts between Zambrano and MC, Baltazar Martínez has expressed to his close circle that he will be able to "control him." Meanwhile, some party members believe that Zambrano could start a project for a public office while continuing in the state-owned company.
