Morena and Opposition Reach Budget Agreement for Nuevo León

After the president of Morena, Luisa María Alcalde, opened the door to negotiating five conditions with any other political faction, PRI and PAN did not waste time and have issued a call for the Budget Commission to meet tomorrow. The coordinator of PAN deputies, Carlos de la Fuente, assured that they view the proposed points from Morena favorably and recalled that without Alcalde's intervention, the faction was not constructive in December. 'We heard the position of the president of Morena, who conveyed on behalf of the faction a willingness to open dialogue... there are five fundamental points: no more debt, which we have already defended; second, no more taxes, which we have also anticipated; third, to approve pensions for people with disabilities, let's move forward on this; fourth, to reverse the metro and bus fare hikes, something we have been pushing for months; and fifth, a fair budget for all municipalities, which was approved in December,' he declared. 'We view very favorably that the Morena faction is presenting proposals... they did not make a single proposal on how they could move forward, today they are raising issues for a budget that benefits Nuevo León. We are circulating a call for the Budget Commission, which we hope will be turned over today and will meet tomorrow... we will collect the five requests made by Morena today... once the veto is overcome, an order is given to the Executive for its publication and, consequently, it comes into force,' he added. Despite the impetus from the president of Morena, doubts remain among some legislators, both from Morena and the PT, about whether it is convenient to be 'allies of the opposition.' 'If we look at this morning's press conference, with its president Luisa María Alcalde, they are proposing points that are in the draft, they are not major modifications, just adding the resource to support people with disabilities... it was difficult to agree with someone who proposed nothing, today Luisa María Alcalde comes, and we achieve a great proposal, maybe we need Luisa María Alcalde to keep coming to order her faction and achieve agreements in Congress,' he added. Meanwhile, the president of the Budget Commission, Lorena de la Garza, announced that the draft approved in December already includes three of the five points proposed by the ruling faction and that starting tomorrow they will begin working tables regarding the Fiscal Package. In Palacio de Cantera, questions are also emerging about the position of various 4T legislators who have supported them in the arithmetic, and Governor Samuel García is focusing on the upcoming visit of President Claudia Sheinbaum to see the possibility of another consensus. Meanwhile, the coordinator for MC, Baltazar Martínez, showed neutrality regarding a potential Front-Morena alliance and considered that it will be important to negotiate various points to achieve a unanimous Fiscal Package. 'We completely agree with the points they present today, these are basically already in the draft... the most important thing is to move forward as soon as possible so that Nuevo León has a budget on time and in full,' said the PAN member. He clarified that Governor Samuel García has no authority to apply another veto. He did not speak about the possibility of reversing the fare hike or reducing the Executive's spending.
