On Friday, October 18, the Secretary of National Defense announced that an operation was carried out in the town of Guamuchilera, municipality of Navolato, Sinaloa, where Luis Alberto 'N' known as El Cañas was arrested. He is identified as the alleged leader of the cell of the criminal group Los Chapitos and right-hand man of Humberto Figueroa, aka La Perris. He is attributed with his participation in the rescue operations of the children of 'Chapo' Guzmán.
In the operation, in addition to the arrest of El Cañas, six other criminals were captured, and five high-caliber weapons, 11 magazines, 524 cartridges, two fragmentation grenades, a pickup truck, a car, and tactical equipment were confiscated. The detainees were handed over to the corresponding authorities to determine their legal status through the relevant investigations.
Humberto Figueroa, known as La Perris, is identified by the U.S. Department of State as one of the main security leaders of Los Chapitos. He was in charge of the personal protection of Néstor Isidro Pérez Salas, alias El Nini, who was arrested last year. The DEA points him out as responsible for the transportation of fentanyl from Mexico to the United States, being a target in the fight against this synthetic drug.
U.S. authorities are offering a reward of one million dollars for information leading to the capture of Humberto Figueroa, born in 1991. A song by the singer Peso Pluma, called 'La People II', apparently mentions Figueroa as one of those in charge of the protection of the Los Chapitos family. This song belongs to his latest album titled Éxodo, in collaboration with Tito Double P.
