In the Mexican state of Sonora, migrants and asylum seekers line up to receive lunch at the migrant shelter "Casa de la Misericordia" in Nogales. Currently, there are 60 people from Mexico, Nicaragua, Honduras, and El Salvador in the shelter, although it has the capacity for 120 individuals. In recent years, the number of people staying here has decreased, starting from the presidency of Donald Trump. Starting on January 20, Mexican authorities recently began transferring recently arrived migrants to other shelters in Nogales, with assistance from the national guard.

One quote from a migrant: "My family and I are grateful for this shelter; it feels like home here. We were very tired from our journey, and now we can rest well and eat good food to continue our journey."

Despite the reduced flow of migrants to the shelter, activists note that people in need of help and shelter continue to arrive. The situation with migrants remains a pressing issue in the region, and efforts to provide assistance and support for those in need continue.
