
The governor of Puebla, Alejandro Armenta Mier, announced the approval of important infrastructure projects in the region following the visit of President Claudia Sheinbaum. During a press conference at the Municipal Palace of Puebla, accompanied by Mayor José "Pepe" Chedraui Budib and state and municipal officials, Armenta detailed that works will be carried out in the Mixteca area, as well as the expansion of the highway towards the Amozoc toll booth.
In his statements, the governor mentioned that President Sheinbaum has confirmed her support to initiate interventions on the roads of the Puebla Mixteca. Armenta reported that two sections of 42 kilometers will be executed in the region this year and that there is a project to connect Puebla with Morelos.
Additionally, progress will be made on the expansion of the Puebla-Amozoc highway from the Cuauhtémoc stadium, and on the modernization of the Amozoc-Acajete federal road in the first phase of the project. It was also announced that the rehabilitation of the Interserrana road will begin in 2025 to improve mobility in the region and ensure quality roads in Puebla.
Regarding infrastructure, Armenta mentioned the installation of 15 machinery modules at different points in the state at a total cost of 700 million pesos. These modules will be equipped to carry out tasks such as road opening, base construction, compaction, and road maintenance.
In the governor's words, "Federal and state roads will receive the necessary maintenance to ensure that Puebla has the best roads in the country". Two specific sections were highlighted: one from El Pitayo to Tehuitzingo on the federal Puebla-Huajuapan de León highway, and another from Santa Bárbara to Izúcar de Matamoros at the borders with Morelos.
