Line 4 of the Urban Articulated Transport Network (RUTA) in Puebla will continue to be free for all its users until further notice. Although it was planned to implement a fee of 20 pesos for the service starting February 1, this measure has been postponed. The governor of Puebla, Alejandro Armenta Mier, explained that the charge will resume once the adaptation works at the stops have been completed, especially in the areas of San Andrés, San Pedro Cholula, and Cuautlancingo.
The original inauguration of this project was scheduled for January 31, according to Jesús Aquino Limón, former Undersecretary of Infrastructure. So far, neither the government of Puebla nor the Puebla Toll Road (CCP) has issued an official statement regarding the delay in the implementation of the charge. The head of CCP, Nomar Layón, mentioned that the extension of the free service will allow for a study to be conducted over the next three or four months to determine the volume of users of this line.
It is expected that, upon completion of the analysis, the daily demand will be approximately 100 thousand people, using the 60.3 kilometers that the stretch of Periférico Ecológico covers, from Cuautlancingo to Amozoc. Recently, the mayor of Cuautlancingo, Omar Muñoz, proposed assigning security elements during peak user hours, as it has been noted that the stops are deserted.
