Social media users have demanded an investigation into the incident, as well as sanctions for those involved, considering it a case of abuse and possible discrimination. So far, the company has not issued an official statement on the matter; however, the case has reignited the debate on the protocols for store staff to follow in cases of suspected theft, especially when it involves elderly people.
