Operation against adulterated gasoline in Puebla

In the city of Puebla, several gas stations have been checked in recent days due to complaints about the alleged sale of low-quality gasoline. One of the inspected stations was the “Makana” gas station on the Mexico-Puebla highway, in the San Jerónimo Caleras Auxiliary Board.

Although authorities have not provided specific details about the reason for these verifications, it is suggested that the intervention is related to the sale of adulterated gasoline. It is expected that in the coming hours, federal authorities will provide additional information about the results of these operations.

Since last month, complaints about the sale of gasoline adulterated with water at service stations located in La Nacional and Avenida Margaritas have been circulating on social media, which has caused mechanical failures in some vehicles. Carlos León Martín, a representative of the National Organization of Petroleum Vendors (Onexpo) in Puebla-Tlaxcala, has alerted about the sale of “fiscal huachicol” and low-quality gasoline that affects vehicle performance.

The Federal Consumer Prosecutor's Office (Profeco) conducted various operations at gas stations in the city of Puebla, focusing on at least three strategic points, and proceeded to shut down some stations after receiving reports on the sale of contaminated fuel. Profeco personnel, Pemex members, the National Guard (GN), and the Attorney General's Office (FGR) participated in these operations.

One of the inspected gas stations was “Fullgas”, located at Bulevar Norte and Avenida 15 de Mayo, in front of Plaza San Pedro. During the intervention, authorities immobilized the dispensing machines and suspended the service. An inspection was also carried out at a service station on Camino al Batán, in Lomas de San Miguel.

In the words of Carlos León Martín: “We are seeing a growing problem of low-quality gasoline that affects not only vehicles but also the economy of those affected when purchasing this type of fuel.”
