The Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS) will demolish the building of the International Center of Medicine (CIMA), acquired in 2017 for over 400 million pesos, to build a Simulation Center in its place, dedicated to the training of medical and nursing students. This was reported by the delegate of IMSS in Puebla, María Tinajero Esquivel, during a press conference led by Governor Alejandro Armenta Mier at the Integral Services Center (CIS) in Angelópolis. The official explained that after conducting soil mechanics studies on the property, located in the Atlixcáyotl Territorial Reserve, it was determined that it is not viable to use the existing structure, so its demolition will be necessary before starting a new project. She indicated that the proposal is currently in the process of being authorized by the central offices of IMSS in Mexico City, the body responsible for validating technical and administrative aspects. She detailed that the new center will focus on the academic training of health personnel, allowing students to practice in a controlled environment through simulators and specialized technology. Hospital project in Amozoc and expansion in Cholula In this context, Governor Alejandro Armenta Mier stated that his administration is willing to allocate resources to promote the construction of an IMSS hospital in Amozoc, as well as the expansion of the Center for Health Services with Expanded Services (Cessa) of San Pedro Cholula. Therefore, he asked the delegate of IMSS and the coordinator of IMSS-Bienestar in the entity, Gerónimo Lara Gálvez, to expedite the necessary procedures to carry out both projects and strengthen the capacity of medical care. Regarding the expansion of the Cessa in Cholula, Lara Gálvez reported that the profile to be given to the former General Hospital of Cholula is being evaluated, which could be an obstetric care unit, with the aim of reducing saturation at the Women's Hospital, although without considering high-specialty services. As for the hospital in Amozoc, he specified that the project is still awaiting federal resources to begin its construction, which was announced during the previous administration to expand coverage for beneficiaries.
