The state government led by Alejandro Armenta Mier inaugurated the expansion of the Urgency Area and the rehabilitation of the Laboratory of the Puebla Children's Hospital, strengthening its care capacity and consolidating it as a benchmark in pediatric services in the south-southeast region of the country. The new areas will allow for improved medical care, reduced response times, and optimized diagnoses, for the benefit of girls, boys, and adolescents requiring specialized care. On behalf of the General Director of IMSS-Bienestar, the Coordinator of Normativity and Medical Planning, Nazarea Herrera Maldonado, emphasized that the hospital expansion is key, since “when it comes to saving lives in childhood, every minute counts,” so these new facilities represent an advance towards more accessible, timely, and dignified services. In turn, the state coordinator of IMSS-Bienestar, Gerónimo Lara Gálvez, stated that the expansion of the Urgency area and the modernization of the laboratory represent the materialization of a project expected for over three decades. He detailed that with these new areas, the hospital capacity was doubled, increasing from 16 to 32 beds, which will help decrease saturation, speed up patient classification, and improve care in critical cases. The project involved the intervention of more than 6 thousand square meters, which now house spaces such as triage, evaluation office, shock areas, isolation, observation, as well as inhalation therapy, rehydration, and intermediate pediatric therapy services. This strengthening responds to the increase of over 100% in the demand for pediatric care in recent years and will allow for faster and more accurate diagnoses with top-level equipment. Authorities highlighted that the Puebla Children's Hospital serves patients from states such as Veracruz, Oaxaca, Guerrero, Chiapas, and Tlaxcala, impacting more than 1.5 million minors, positioning it as one of the most important pediatric centers in the country.
