Jonathan Ávalos Meléndez Leaves Tribunal Position

Jonathan Ávalos Meléndez, who held the position of magistrate of the Superior Court of Justice of the State of Puebla, has received approval from the Congress for an indefinite leave of absence. This request was submitted after only six months since his appointment to the position.

During his time in the Court, Ávalos Meléndez was responsible for designing reforms that were sent to the Legislative Power, covering areas such as the regulation of tow trucks, taxes on platforms like Airbnb, and transportation regulation. Additionally, he held roles as legal advisor to the state government and was part of the State Council for Regulatory Improvement.

The leave was approved during an ordinary public session, where the Congress endorsed the agreement proposed by the Board of Government and Political Coordination. Delfina Pozos Vergara, a member of the Jugocopo, explained that the leave was requested so that Ávalos Meléndez could join the team of Sergio Céspedes Peregrina at the National Institute of Migration.

Jonathan Ávalos Meléndez assumed the role of magistrate on July 25, 2024, being proposed by the former governor of Puebla, and has now received authorization to take an indefinite leave.
