Delay in SEP Office Relocation in Puebla

The relocation of the SEP federal offices, promised by former President AMLO, remains uncertain. Secretary Mario Delgado confirms ongoing visits to Puebla for educational projects.

Delay in SEP Office Relocation in Puebla

The relocation of the offices of the Ministry of Public Education (SEP) as part of the decentralization plan of federal government agencies, announced by former president Andrés Manuel López Obrador, seems to have remained an unfulfilled promise. During the visit of the head of the Federal Ministry of Education, Mario Delgado Carrillo, to the capital of Puebla, details about the move were not provided, despite a building already being prepared in Puebla for workers coming from Mexico City.

In this regard, Delgado Carrillo ironically mentioned: "I come here very often, I almost moved here." Although he has previously stated that the move is unlikely, he assured that he will continue to visit Puebla regularly to work closely with Governor Alejandro Armenta on educational projects. Casa Raboso, located near the artisan market "El Parián", was rehabilitated in 2022 in anticipation of hosting SEP staff as part of the decentralization process announced in 2019.

On the other hand, it was announced that there is a plan for the construction of new high schools in Puebla, as well as the expansion of existing ones, according to Delgado Carrillo. "We are working on higher education, on research, there are some new high schools and others are expansions of those that are overcrowded," he mentioned. Additionally, in a subsequent interview after the launch of the national strategy "Live Healthy, Live Happy," it was anticipated that President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, along with the governor of Puebla, will announce upcoming actions regarding educational infrastructure.

It was acknowledged that Puebla is standing out as a leading state in education, thanks to the dedication of Governor Alejandro Armenta to strengthen the state educational system.
