The municipal government of Querétaro approved the creation of the new María Justa Aldama delegation in the Jurica-Juriquilla area, which will now divide the capital into eight delegations for citizen attention. During a council session, the municipality approved the new delegation by a majority vote, whose objective is to reduce the population load on the delegations of Santa Rosa Jáuregui, Epigmenio González, Félix Osores, and Felipe Carrillo, with the intention of optimizing services and citizen procedures throughout the city. The capital's mayor, Felipe Fernando Macías, explained that the eighth delegation will begin operating on January 1, 2027. This is to ensure that its resources are allocated to the eighth delegation and that its operation does not represent a greater expense for the government. Regarding the head of the María Justa Aldama delegation, he clarified that the person will be appointed in the coming months. He also detailed that it will cover colonies and communities such as Jurica, Juriquilla, Jurica Pueblo, El Nabo, El Salitre, Mompaní, San Isidro, El Pie, and El Tránsito, among others. "We had citizen attention delegations that were totally unequal, with Cayetano Rubio attending to 40,000 people in the Hércules area and a super-saturated Félix Osores attending to more than 240,000 people. Similarly, regarding the name María Justa Aldama, he emphasized that it was chosen to honor the women who participated in the conspiracy that gave rise to Mexico's Independence. However, regarding its headquarters, he revealed that it will be located in the new North Municipal Attention Center, a project included in the 2026 Annual Works Proposal for an amount of 40 million pesos. "We already have some analyzed locations, it is highly probable where it will be located, which will be practically on Paseo de la República, more or less right on the limits between Jurica and Juriquilla and also close to the Salitre area," he advanced. The mayor added that the new delegation represents the first territorial reordering action in the municipality since 1994, for which he considered this measure necessary given the population growth of Querétaro in recent years.
