In response to the recent operations carried out in the Historic Center of Querétaro, the Municipality of Querétaro announced its position on the events that occurred. The commitment of local authorities to maintain order and accessibility in public spaces was highlighted, ensuring fair conditions for merchants in the regulated area.

The operation was led by the Secretariat of Government, coordinated by the Inspection Directorate, with the aim of preventing the improper occupation of walkways and squares by street vendors. The intervention involved the Municipal Police, mobility officers, Civil Protection, and the Municipal System for the Comprehensive Development of the Family’s Agency for the Protection of Children and Adolescents.

During the action, four people were injured: one municipal police officer, one mobility agent, and two civilians, who received care from Civil Protection and Firefighters. Municipal authorities expressed their willingness to engage in dialogue to prevent disturbances and resolve conflicts peacefully and within the legal framework.

The local administration emphasized its efforts to provide alternatives for merchants and artisans while respecting current regulations, such as the establishment of an Artisan Market that offers a safe space for the sale of local and artisanal products. Intolerance towards informal commerce and the improper use of public roads was reiterated, highlighting that these belong to the entire community.

It was emphasized that the defense of free transit and security in the Historic Center will continue to be a priority for the Municipality, so control operations will be carried out continuously to ensure compliance with established regulations.
