New Economic Support Schemes for SMEs in Mexico

César Gutiérrez, coordinator of the Economic Wellbeing Corridor, reported that in 2025 new support schemes will be presented for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (Mipymes), as well as an impetus for a cooperative model. In collaboration with the federal government, chambers, and representatives of economic sectors, strategies are being developed to promote the economic development of the region and the necessary programs to achieve it.

In this regard, the possibility of replicating in Mexico the successful model of Mondragón University in Europe is being evaluated, in order to involve cooperatives in supply chains and generate benefits for all sectors with new investments. The goal is to create a virtuous economic circle that promotes growth in the state.

"They have an interesting and successful cooperative model in the Basque Country, and we want to bring that experience to Mexico to promote cooperatives and generate a virtuous circle in our state," Gutiérrez shared. He emphasized that many Mipymes and artisan individuals could be empowered through cooperatives but pointed out the need to accompany this model with the corresponding legislation, which is expected to be presented in the first quarter of the year.

Gutiérrez highlighted the interest of the president of the republic in SMEs, as they are the foundation of economic dynamics. Although the region for implementing the new scheme has not yet been defined, it is being promoted that Querétaro be one of the first states to implement it. "We are going to push for Querétaro to be one of the important states for these issues," he emphasized, assuring that the benefits will extend nationwide.
