The municipality of Querétaro and artisan traders from the Coedipromix organization reached an agreement after a confrontation last Friday in the Historic Center. The official statement highlights the importance of keeping the city orderly and safe, with prosperous commerce within the law.
The Artisan Market, where the discrepancy arose, was identified as a place with deficiencies that hinder its proper functioning. The municipality committed to working together with the traders' group to turn it into a successful project for the artisans.
The statement mentions that Coedipromix agreed to stop selling products informally, and the municipality offered its support to regularize their activities. Due to insufficient sales at the Artisan Market, the local government has promised to manage additional spaces for formal sales, as well as establish partnerships with hotels, restaurants, and convenience stores.
The municipal government also committed to identifying new strategic locations in the Historic Center to promote and sell artisan products. The goal is to improve productivity and income for both Coedipromix and all similar organizations in the region.
