On February 6, the National Electoral Institute will hold the first lottery to select citizens born in February and May who will be invited to join the polling station boards in the judicial election. This was detailed by executive officer Ana Lilia Pérez Mendoza while informing about the progress of this process.
"It will be the first draw to select citizens born in the months of February and May to invite them to join us as polling station officials," explained Pérez Mendoza.
After the individuals agree to be part of the process, the corresponding training will take place, and starting in April, a second training phase will be carried out. Due to the nature of this extraordinary election and budget cuts, the installation of 1,087 section polling places and one special polling place for each electoral district is planned.
By February 12, the INE will have the list of candidates, and in the state, the individuals who will occupy 8 circuit judges and 8 district judges positions will have been defined. A series of forums will be held to introduce these candidates to the public.
Additionally, once the candidacies are registered, a project titled 'Conóceles' with candidate profiles and other relevant information will be published on the website. Six forums are scheduled, including one at the state level, and the participation of academic institutions such as the Autonomous University of Querétaro will be sought to achieve maximum dissemination.
It should be noted that the candidates will not receive any compensation and will be subject to oversight, since not being related to political parties means there will be no activities during the electoral ban. It was also mentioned that February 10 is the last day to request voter ID cards or carry out procedures such as registrations, address changes, replacements, or data corrections, especially for young people who will turn 18 before the election.
