Deputy Claudia Díaz Gayou from the Labor Party (PT) in the local legislature of Querétaro has presented an initiative to eliminate the charge for municipal operation licenses in the state, deeming it illegal. She highlighted that she sent a letter to all municipal presidents and councilors in the state, requesting them to exclude this charge from their upcoming Income Law initiatives to be presented to the legislature.
She argued that this charge, currently in effect in several municipalities, violates an agreement signed with the Federation since 1985, in which the state and municipalities agreed to eliminate any payment related to licenses that limit commercial, industrial, or service activities. Since Querétaro joined the Fiscal Coordination Agreement regarding Rights in 1985, municipalities receive additional resources through the Municipal Promotion Fund as compensation for not charging operation licenses and other permits.
The deputy stated: "This is a measure of justice for tens of thousands of traders, industrialists, and service providers who for years have paid what is not due. It will also encourage entrepreneurship, as it will make it easier for Querétaro residents to start new businesses and for those already operating to regularize themselves."
The deputy emphasized the commitment of the Fourth Transformation to the economy of Querétaro families, stating that this initiative will benefit more than 50,000 businesses in the state. Local deputies from Morena, council members, and representatives from businesses were present during this event.
