In an exciting baseball game, the Conspirators achieved their first series win of the season by defeating the Yucatán Lions on Saturday with a final score of 13-12. The bullpen, led by Arnaldo Hernández, withstood the final push from Yucatán to secure the victory for the Querétaro team.
The Lions took a 5-2 lead in the third inning thanks to home runs from Yadir Drake and Luis Juárez, but the Conspirators responded with a two-run homer from Kelvin Gutiérrez. In the sixth inning, Yurisbel Gracial and Edwin Espinal hit consecutive home runs, extending the lead to 13-6. Despite this, the Lions did not give up and in the seventh inning mounted a five-run rally, highlighted by a three-run homer from Josh Fuentes. Walter Ibarra drove in one more run in the eighth to bring the Lions closer at 13-12, but Hernández ultimately closed the door in the ninth for his third save of the year.
The Querétaro offense, which totaled 15 hits, including four home runs, managed to overcome an early deficit and contain the Lions' comeback attempt in the final innings. The victory improved the Conspirators' record to 3-5 in their second campaign in the Mexican Baseball League, giving them a boost of confidence after a tough start to the season.
In the fourth inning, Leonys Martín tied the game with a two-run single, while in the fifth inning Luis Sardiñas hit a three-run homer and Yairo Muñoz added a run-scoring double to put the home team ahead 10-6. On Sunday, the series will conclude at 5:00 PM at the Finsus stadium, with Ronald Bolaños starting for the Conspirators and Raúl Alcántara for the Lions.
