The Secretary of Security of Nuevo León, Gerardo Escamilla, reported that the five officers who were attacked have already been discharged from the hospital, and clarified that the version of a "landmine" is incorrect. It was an "improvised explosive device" in a sparsely populated area.
"It is very important to make the following clarification: it was not a mine, it was an improvised explosive device, and we are following up on the corresponding investigations. This happened in a deserted area," he added.
Given the complexity of the Tamaulipas border, the official announced that he will activate the "carousel" operation for travelers seeking to enter or leave Nuevo León via roads and highways leading to the neighboring state.
These operations will consist of accompanying convoys of vehicles that will gather at various departure points to the neighboring state, as well as those arriving in Reynosa.
"Fortunately, all the officers have been discharged, they are well and with their families. The meeting points will be at the García Restaurant, at the Mobil gas station in front of the North Airport; another will be at the Civil Force detachment in Salinas Victoria."
