Journalist Alejandro Gallegos Found Dead in Tabasco

On the morning of Saturday, the Attorney General's Office of Tabasco issued the missing person's report for journalist Alejandro Gallegos León, director of La Voz del Pueblo, a local media outlet. Hours later, it was reported that his lifeless body was found with gunshot wounds.

Gallegos León's family reported losing communication with the journalist on Friday afternoon, which led to the activation of the missing person's report due to concerns for his safety. The 51-year-old journalist was also a professor at Alpha and Omega University.

Subsequent to the issuance of the missing person's report, local media reported Gallegos's death. An image was circulated showing the body of the journalist, apparently murdered.

This tragic event adds to the seven journalists murdered in Mexico so far in 2024, according to the Campaign for a Press Emblem (PEC), an independent organization. These figures indicate that the country is a dangerous place for reporters.
