During the Buen Fin in Mexico, specifically in Tehuacán, Puebla, an altercation broke out among shoppers seeking discounted televisions at a local Walmart. Dozens of people were involved in violent confrontations to obtain these products at reduced prices.
Videos shared on social media show consumers crowding the store's aisles, pushing and jostling around the discounted televisions. Whole families stayed close to the screens to ensure that no one else took them, which led to pushing and tensions among those present.
The arrival of Buen Fin generated a large influx of shoppers looking to take advantage of the discounts, which led to the intervention of the Municipal Police to prevent the situation from escalating. Despite the police presence, some videos show that the store staff struggled to control the situation, while in other recordings, municipal agents can be seen trying to calm consumers affected emotionally by the circumstances.
In addition to the altercations inside the store, complications were reported on the main avenues of Puebla due to increased traffic from the high demand during Buen Fin. The mayor of San Andrés Cholula, Guadalupe Cuautle, presented a security operation around shopping malls to address the accelerated buying during this discount period.
