Mexican security forces have detained a criminal cell leader in Tijuana, a priority target for the government. The operation also resulted in the seizure of narcotics and firearms.


Leader of Criminal Cell Linked to Beltrán Leyva Captured in Mexico

Elements of the Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena) and the National Guard detained Gustavo Antonio Camacho Espinoza, alias 'Tavo', in Tijuana, Baja California. He has been identified as the leader of a criminal cell linked to the Beltrán Leyva organization. According to the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), the individual faces criminal charges in the United States for drug trafficking and is considered a priority target for the Government of Mexico. The operation also led to the arrest of four more individuals: two linked to the same criminal group and two affiliated with the Pacific Cartel. During the operations, conducted based on intelligence work from the II Military Region and the 2nd Military Zone, nine kilograms and 330 fentanyl pills were secured. Additionally, five firearms (four short and one long), cartridges of various calibers, six cell phones, and two properties located in Tijuana were seized.
